Did that just happen?
Epic YL Club...3/27/12!
I am not sleeping anytime soon due to the overwhelming joy and honor I feel to be a part of what God is doing in LS through Young Life. Tonight we had our weekly Club. I opened the mic up the students to share and simply asked, "What has God been doing in your life? How has YL impacted you?"
Little did I know we would leave feeling like a family, feeling God's presence and realness, His love, and be wiping away tears of joy and hope. Students shared from their heart- their stories of pain, loss, struggle, and how God is real. How YL showed up and their leader showed up and loved them. How they now feel like they are not alone because God promises to never leave them. I cannot put this night in words- so I will use theirs.
Take a glimpse at some of the tweets on Twitter after tonight's club:
Thank you#younglife for changing lives. HE IS REAL
Lastly, I wanted to end with this text from a student I received tonight:
"Driving home, I had to pull over and gather myself from the power of God I felt tonight. Words cannot how thankful I am to have been introduced to you, YL, and LSCC this year. I'm getting to know Christ in ways that I never imagined possible. I feel myself growing and becoming the person I've always wanted to be developing an untouchable bond with God. I'm learning to turn to Him in every aspect of my life. Everything good and bad and ugly is strengthening this relationship and I don't think I have ever felt this happy, this filled with life. It's incredibly reassuring to know there's a support system like YL and people I can go to bc I know I will struggle and this will be hard but unbelievably worth it."
AMEN
Thanks for listening!

Everyone needs Yl in their life!! So moving tonight!
YoungLife was amazing tonight. #cried I can honestly say YL and the leaders have changed my life.
YL isn't intended to judge or make the attenders appear perfect, instead it reminds u that no matter how much u mess up GOD STILL LOVES YOU!!
Best YL club ever. No idea where I would be without @TraceeCobb, all my leaders, my yl friends, and most important God! #LifeChanging

Going Public
LS YL has partnered with a local church- Lees Summit Community Christian. I felt God calling me as Area Director of YL to partner and attend a local church so YL students who don't have a church home would feel safe and welcome to attend. LSCC has been a great influence on our students and is continuing to stretch them in their faith. With that partnership God is at work. Today I had the honor of baptizing two YL students who now attend LSCC. Through YL have decided to say YES to following Christ. It has been a joy and a privilege to watch them grow in their journey with Christ and baptize them today! Celebrate with me what God is doing in LS!

Everything
A semester of YL just came to a close. It's funny how you know if students listen is by what they tweet on Twitter. After YL Club tonight here are some tweets:
"Most intense Young Life yet. If you missed this, you missed something truly amazing. Thank you YL!"
"Leaving YL and wanting more. I appreciate everything YL has done this semester."
"That was literally the most inspirational thing ever. So glad I didn't miss it. YL - God is Good."
And from a new YL leader- "Most amazing YL Club ever hands down amazing job leaders! Wow, that was so cool, love Jesus!"
So you get the picture... tonight we had a party on a school night where we told truth. Truth that Jesus Christ is mighty to save and is everything. We just need to take the step toward Him, He fights for us.
Please watch this video... we performed a version of this tonight for students. It is what they are all "tweeting" about- intense, and truth. This is why we have YL... to fight for students to know and choose Christ.

What is going on? God is moving...
Listen to a letter from a YL student about what God has been doing in her life.
Before I knew Christ, fear ruled my life. Every day I let it control who I was. I was afraid for my family. That divorce, unfaithfulness, alcohol and gambling would show itself to me again. I was afraid for my friends. That out group was falling apart and we wouldn't have each other to lean on anymore. I was most of all scared for myself. I think a lot of us find it easier to look for all the negatives in life. To just call it quits and throw yourself a pitty party. I almost gave up on dance which was my true passion and outlet. But then god showed himself to me when I was at my lowest point. Life had tried to rip me down and it succeeded. But I realized reaching you bottom is when you desire Jesus the most. I was screaming for God. I needed someone to tell me it was gonna be okay. I needed someone to be there for me cause I felt like everyone and everything had left me feeling empty. Though s actions God started showing himself to me though. He was showing me a lot of love and patience. After I went to YL camp for the 2nd time. I learned a very different message then the 1st year I want to camp. My faith in God became so much stronger. I have found myself in him. I pray every day that I can become more like him. I know he has a plan for me even in my days of doubt he is there and will never give up. He's put people in my life who I can walk on my journey with. I'm so blessed and proud to have friends who want to pursue God as badly as I do. He has given me people like Tracee Cobb who give me so much encouragement and who I honestly don't know what I would do without because she has gotten me through so much. I am so in love with god. I am ready to start fresh and live my life fully dedicated to him. Even if I hit a couple speed bumps along the way he's the only one who can completely get me past those and satisfy me. Through my struggles it has made me run to God. I choose to completely surrender myself to the Lord. To know him and be known. I am no longer alone.
